Webb Brothers General Store
Webb Brothers' General Store opened on May 15th, 1936, on the banks of the Hiwassee River in Reliance. Since that time the store has been a landmark for area residents and tourists. It became a traditional stop for motorists traveling Highway 30 to the Ocoee River and the Copper Basin.

Our general store on the banks of the Hiwassee has become a landmark for area residents and tourists.

Unable to find work during the Depression, Oliver and Harold opened their own business in 1936.  Webb Bros. Texaco and General Store provided gas, food, and basic household supplies, from ammunition and stove polish to beans and potatoes.  Oliver was soon appointed Reliance Postmaster, and part of the store became the post office.

Nowadays the store provides gas, food, and supplies for camping or picnicing, T-shirts, and other souvenirs.  In addition to rentals for rafting on the Hiwassee and lodging in our Guesthouse, the store has showcases displaying artifacts from the Reliance Historic District.
